Growing up:
- I was born and raised in Lincoln NE.
- I was the youngest of two daughters
- I have so many cousins and spent a lot of time with the cousins on my mom's side growing up
- My parents divorced when I was a senior in high school
- I went to three different elementary schools and maintain friendships with people from all three.
- I was a Mickle Missile in middle school followed by a Northeast Rocket for high school.
- I bleed Husker red and if you try to change the channel during a Husker game, you're going to get something thrown at you.
- If it's fall and a Saturday, you can usually catch me either at home watching a Husker game, downtown tailgating or occasionally at Memorial Stadium watching live. There is nothing quite like the sea of Red on a gameday.
- I was a flower girl for a family friend, this family friend was the flower girl in my parents wedding!
- I played soccer for several years from 5th grade through high school. I loved every moment on the field.
- I have zero hand-eye coordination so attempting any other sport was a disaster - not kidding, one time I smacked myself in the face with a tennis racket.
- I volunteered at a Lutheran summer camp for 5 years (I also attended a couple times as a camper) plus went on retreats and servant event trips with my church to help at the camp. This camp is a home away from home. I love every thing about this place and still go back to help several times a year
- When I was 18, I was assaulted twice and now volunteer with young girls who have also gone through attacks.
On My Own:
- I moved to St Paul MN for college
- I attended a private Lutheran school- Concordia St Paul
- I met some amazing people and maintain friendships with several of them
- I joined the school dance team and met my best friend, Samantha
- I went on two mission trips to Mexico to build houses.
- While home on break, I made some choices that led to pregnancy. I became a mom at 19.
- My dads parents passed away within 5 months of each other. My grandpa died on Valentine's day 2007.
- My son, Trevor was born on the day of my grandpa's funeral Feb 19, 2007.
- Trevor has been my whole world.
- I fell into some dark times and depression and it led to a really bad relationship with an alcoholic. I was physically, verbally and emotionally abused. Luckily none of that passed on to my child.
- I reformed a relationship with God.
- I love to sing and sing in a worship team at my church
- I spent some time building relationships with Lincoln's homeless community
- Started helping with youth at my church and now it's like I have 20 kids instead of 1.
- I do a lot of art and like to be crafty
- I focus a lot of time being a "boy mom"
To be determined:
- I want to go back to college and finish my degree.
- I want to be a math or art teacher
- Be active in Trevor's education, helping him to realize his potential and be successful
- Continue mentoring young girls based on my past experiences
- Adopt- someday I want to adopt
- Be a foster parent, currently I can't due to the house I live in, but someday!
- Travel more.
