Meet the newest addition to the Smith House!

My sister, Trevor and I made the decision a while back to adopt a dog from Lincoln's Capital Humane Society. We finally found the time that we could all go and look at dogs yesterday and we all fell in love with Daisy. Miss Daisy is a pug and we've already got her a pretty pink color and leash (we did resist the urge to buy her a pink tutu thought). She likes to play fetch with tennis balls, which I think is what really sold Trevor on her (plus she was calmer and didn't bark as loud as the other dogs).
Here's the thing about Daisy, she's 9 years old. We've thought about the "concerns" regarding her already being older, but it's not an issue for us. For us, we already love her and we're willing to take care of her for however many years she has left (which will likely be several, as pugs average lifespan is 12-15 years) . For us, I think the better aspect was that Daisy is already house-trained, she's good with kids, and she's already got a few tricks up her sleeves. Besides, age doesn't seem like a factor, because for being 9, Daisy seemed to have quite a bit of energy!

So proud of you for rescuing an older dog. You are a special woman with a big heart. And every boy needs a dog!

Thanks CP! Trevor's the one who made the final call on Daisy :) He's excited for his first real pet (because let's be honest the 18 goldfish I couldn't keep alive don't count). I have a feeling that I might want a second dog soon, all those sad puppy eyes tore at my heart.
